Transcoding and scopes specialist Divergent Media has released a paid update to its popular macOS-only transcoding application EditReady. EditReady 2.0 adds support for 10-bit 4:2:2 H.264 files and H.265 HEVC files from Panasonic’s Lumix DC-GH5 camera in 4K UHD, 4K DCI and 6K Photo video as well as other video specifications.
Although other software products offer transcoding as part of their feature sets, the benefit of a small, nimble specialist like Divergent Media is its theoretical ability to respond quickly to new camera releases, and new codecs and specifications.
EditReady 2.0 seems to have beaten other transcoding tools to the punch on GH5 support so that alone is, IMHO, good enough justification for forking out for this full version updater.

I have been searching for quite some time now for the perfect software for beginners and professionals to use in editing their raw photo files, especially important given I have resumed teaching photography.
Although I have not seen a beta of Luminar or anything about it yet other than Macphun’s Luminar announcement page, based on the many positive traits of the company’s other software, this has the potential to be one of the best image editors and raw processors on the market.
According to Macphun:
To make a long story short, it is a truly complete photo editing powerhouse. … Luminar pre-order starts on the 2nd of November. And the launch is scheduled for November 17.
Time will tell!
Meanwhile, Macphun has released a sneak peak web page and video.
